Staying safe while looking for a rishta

Most people you meet here are exactly who they say they are. A small number are not, and the same handful of tactics comes up again and again. This page explains what we do about it, what you can check yourself, and what to do if something has already gone wrong.

Our side

What Click Rishta does

Safety features are free on every plan, permanently. We do not paywall protection.

1
Every profile is tied to a verified email address

Every account is confirmed by email before it counts as verified. It is a simple, free control against people running several fake accounts at once.

2
Identity checks earn a verified badge

Members can complete a selfie liveness check and a CNIC check. We confirm the identity, record that the check passed, and then delete the document image. We never store your CNIC number.

3
Every photo is reviewed by a person

Automated screening runs first — including a check against known scam image sets — and a human makes the decision. Target turnaround is under two hours.

4
Fraud patterns are monitored continuously

Duplicate photos across accounts, repeated message templates, mismatches between declared location and connection origin, and unusual message volume all raise flags for review.

5
Nobody can contact you without permission

Conversations only open when you accept an interest. Declining is silent — the sender is never told. Your photos stay hidden until you decide otherwise, and your profile is never indexed by search engines.

What Click Rishta will never do

Impersonation is common. Knowing what we never do makes it easy to spot.

  • We will never ask you for money by phone, SMS, WhatsApp or email. Membership is paid only inside the app or website.
  • We will never ask for your password. Nobody at Click Rishta needs it.
  • We will never ask you to send a payment to an individual's bank account, EasyPaisa or JazzCash number.
  • We will never charge you to remove a report, unblock an account, or "release" a match.
Warning signs

Five patterns worth stopping for

None of these is proof on its own. Two or three together is enough to end the conversation.

1
Any request for money

A visa deposit, a medical emergency, customs charges on a gift, a business shortfall, help for a sick relative. The reason is always sympathetic and there is always urgency. There is no version of this that is genuine early in a rishta conversation. Stop, block, report.

2
Pushing to move to WhatsApp immediately

Conversations that leave the platform in the first few messages leave no record, no moderation and no evidence. Someone who insists before you have exchanged more than a few messages usually wants exactly that. Take your time.

3
Refusing to speak by video

Excuses accumulate: a broken camera, a bad connection, a family objection, later, later, later. A genuine person will find twenty minutes. Someone using another person's photos never can.

4
An overseas proposal that moves unusually fast

Strong feeling within days, talk of nikah within weeks, and a life abroad described in detail — but always some obstacle to meeting. Overseas rishtas are completely normal. The speed and the obstacle together are the signal.

5
Avoiding families entirely

On a matrimonial platform, reluctance to involve either family — or to give any verifiable detail about their own — is unusual enough to take seriously. Wanting privacy early is normal. Still avoiding it after weeks is not.

Your side

Checking someone yourself

Verification badges tell you an identity was confirmed. They cannot tell you a person is honest. These take a few minutes each.

Worth doing

  • Run a reverse image search on their photos. Stolen photos are the most common fake-profile tactic and this catches most of them in under a minute.
  • Speak by video call before agreeing to meet.
  • Check whether details stay consistent — employer, city, family, education — across several conversations.
  • Involve your family early. A second and third opinion catches what you miss.
  • Ask for a workplace or a family reference once things are serious.

Avoid doing

  • Sending money, gift cards or mobile credit to anyone, for any reason.
  • Sharing your CNIC, bank details or a photograph of any document.
  • Sending private or intimate photographs. These are used for blackmail, and there is no way to take them back.
  • Giving your home address before you have met in person.
  • Continuing a conversation you feel uneasy about because ending it seems rude.
In person

The first meeting

In most Pakistani families a first meeting happens between families rather than individuals, which is itself a good safety arrangement. If you are meeting one to one, the same principles apply.

Meet in a public place — a restaurant, a hotel lobby, a café. Not a private residence, not a guest house, not a car. Tell someone where you are going, who with, and when you expect to be back. Arrange your own transport both ways so you can leave whenever you choose. Keep your phone charged.

If the other person tries to change the location at short notice, discourages you from telling family, or pushes for somewhere private, treat that as an answer in itself and don't go.

On the platform

Blocking and reporting

Both are free on every plan. Neither requires an explanation.

1
Blocking is silent and immediate

The other member is not notified. They can no longer see your profile, send you interests, or message you. You can block from a profile page or from inside a conversation.

2
Reporting sends it to a human

Choose the category and add whatever detail you have. Serious categories — financial requests, threats, explicit content — suspend the account automatically while a moderator reviews, normally within four hours.

3
You'll hear the outcome

We tell you what action was taken either way. If you were wrong about someone, nothing happens to you — we would far rather review a hundred cautious reports than miss one real case.

If something has already gone wrong

If you have sent money, shared documents, or are being threatened or blackmailed — this is not your fault, and it is more common than you would think. What matters now is acting quickly.

  1. Stop all contact and do not pay anything further. Paying a blackmailer does not end it; in almost every documented case the demands continue.
  2. Do not delete anything. Keep the messages, profile screenshots, phone numbers, and any transaction records. Deleting the conversation destroys the evidence.
  3. Report the account on Click Rishta so we can suspend it and check whether the same person is operating other profiles.
  4. If money has moved, contact your bank or mobile wallet provider immediately. Speed matters — recovery is sometimes possible in the first hours and rarely possible later.
  5. Report it to the authorities. Details below.
  6. Tell someone you trust. Shame is the mechanism blackmail depends on. Telling one family member or friend removes most of its power.

Common questions

Safety questions we're asked most

How do I know a rishta profile is real?

Every profile is tied to a confirmed email address, and members can add a selfie check and a CNIC check to earn a verified badge. You can also check independently: run a reverse image search on their photos, and speak by video call before agreeing to meet.

What are the warning signs of a rishta scam?

A request for money for any reason, pressure to move to WhatsApp within the first few messages, refusal to speak by video call, a proposal from abroad that moves unusually fast, and reluctance to involve family. Any request for money should end the conversation.

Will Click Rishta ever ask me for money or my password?

No. Click Rishta staff will never contact you asking for a payment, a fee, a bank transfer or your password. Membership is paid only inside the app or website. Anyone contacting you claiming to be from Click Rishta and asking for money is not from Click Rishta.

Are my photos visible to everyone?

No. Photos are never visible to logged-out visitors or to search engines. You choose whether photos are visible to other members, or only unlock when you accept an interest. Individual profiles are never indexed, so your profile will not appear in a Google search of your name.

Does blocking someone tell them they have been blocked?

No. Blocking is silent. The other member is not notified, and you never have to explain why. Blocking and reporting are free on every plan and always will be.

Where do I report an online scam in Pakistan?

Report it on Click Rishta first so we can suspend the account. For law enforcement, cybercrime in Pakistan is handled by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), which took over these cases from the FIA's Cyber Crime Wing. Keep all screenshots, transaction records and messages as evidence.
